From octave-sources-request at bevo dot che dot wisc dot edu Sat Sep 14 00:05:18 2002 Subject: Loading, saving and playing audio from Octave From: Erik de Castro Lopo To: octave-sources at bevo dot che dot wisc dot edu Date: Sat, 14 Sep 2002 15:00:09 +1000 HI all, I'm the author of libsndfile: http://www.zip.com.au/~erikd/libsndfile/ The latest release of libsndfile includes the ability to read and write a subset of the binary files used by GNU Octave (both 2.0.X and 2.1.X). Also included in the libsndfile distribution are three octave script files: sndfile_load.m sndfile_save.m sndfile_play.m The purpose of the first two is pretty obvious, they load and save Octave data in a format compatible with libsndfile. The third script file, sndfile_play.m, plays a piece of data on the computers sound card using a program, sndfile-play, which is distributed as part of the libsndfile package. This program works on Linux (and other systems are compatible with the Open Sound System), Solaris, MacOSX and Win32. Examples and details can be found here: http://www.zip.com.au/~erikd/libsndfile/octave.html Cheers, Erik -- +-----------------------------------------------------------+ Erik de Castro Lopo nospam at mega-nerd dot com (Yes it's valid) +-----------------------------------------------------------+ The government everybody loves to abuse sues the company everybody loves to hate.
