I noticed a small bug in the zip-file as well. For some reason, even though GNUPLOT_BINARY is defined as pgnuplot in config.h, octave is looking for gnuplot. The setting of the variable gnuplot_binary in octave itself doesn't help. This worked until very recently and so I'm unsure why this is. The workaround is fortunately simple. Just go to c:\octave\gnuplot\bin and copy pgnuplot.exe to gnuplot.exe. Perhaps I have to do a new rebuild of octave as there is perhaps a file hanging around after a reconfigure that wasn't rebuilt correctly..
