Subject: Gnuplot 3.8 features and improved surf function

Hi folks!
as the current development version of Gnuplot (3.8i0) is equipped with a 
z-coloured
3d plot, pm3d (see http://www.sci.muni.cz/~mikulik/gnuplot.html), I suggest 
to use it
in the surf function, that is now just a synonym of mesh

Secondly, the Gnuplot syntax of the set command changed (the old
version is still supported, but it is deprecated):
the "set no<option>" is changed to "unset <option>" and
"set line style" to "set style line", and so on

Octave functions should be updated consequently, and a new 'gunset'
command may be necessary.
