I read through all the GUI work people promised to look into...Who's out there working on this aspect of Octave now? I'm personally very interested in committing my long-term efforts to a Simulink-like simulation/GUI front end for Octave. Though this can't happen without the nit and grit of a great balance of Octave functionality itself, I think there's a lot of "latent interest" in this if/when it ever comes about. jwe is right to force the issue in terms of toolkit independence. But this also seems to have killed subsequent development. Naturally, distracted by the underlying needs of Octave proper, a GUI will never appear. Can we get to the point of completing the basic set of c++ APIs so we can start developing the GUI functions themselves? (I'm not the one, don't get me wrong.) I want to help with the latter part, being an utter oaf wrt low-level Octave functionality. I'm ready to grapple with the toolkit interfaces. Meanwhile, I have the inane suggestion to term Octave's graphics API (the script-level one) "Handel Graphics", further confusing the origin of the term "Octave", paying respects to a great composer at the same time, and further (falsely) insinuating that "Octave" has anything to do with music whatsoever. More than anything it's a trump for Matlab, since Handel has obviously offered the world loads more than Handle Graphics (TM) ever could. So, is anyone non-GNUPLOT related still out there? =j ------=_NextPart_000_0000_01BFF99C.73FF7880 Content-Type: text/x-vcard; name="Julian A. de Marchi, Ph.D..vcf" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="Julian A. de Marchi, Ph.D..vcf" BEGIN:VCARD VERSION:2.1 N:de Marchi;Julian;A.
