Even if the hardware is capable of running Gnome, why should users be
forced ot use it just for Octave plotting.  I think it is bad news for
a general purpose tool to require the use of a certain desktop
system.  If Guppi can't be configured without the Gnome libraries,
then I think that's bad design.
