Subject: installing octave-forge under slack-10.1/2.9.4

Hi
I am trying to install octave-forge under slack-10.1/octave-2.9.4 and was 
occuring the following error

checking for mkoctfile... mkoctfile
conftest.cc:2:28: octave/version.h: No such file or directory
conftest.cc:3:29: octave/defaults.h: No such file or directory
conftest.cc:27: error: parse error before string constant
conftest.cc:28: error: parse error before string constant
conftest.cc:29: error: parse error before string constant
conftest.cc:30: error: parse error before string constant
conftest.cc:31: error: parse error before string constant
configure: error: Could not run mkoctfile

There is no version.h and defaults.h under 2.9.4.

Is there an more correct way to fix this error.
