From help-request at octave dot org Fri Feb 18 20:44:25 2005 Subject: Re: gfortran vs ranlib From: Joe Koski To: "Dmitri A. Sergatskov" , "John W. Eaton" CC: Octave Help Date: Fri, 18 Feb 2005 19:50:09 -0700 John, Dmitri, I've been trying to use gfortran for several months, mostly with problems. Of three codes that I tried, only one compiled successfully. My suggestion would be to file a bug report and track it. The bug (previously reported as 17917) that killed the primary code that I use has been there, mostly dormant ("NEW"), since October. gfortran is a very good idea, but it's not quite there yet. I'm not enough of a computer scientist to help them. I'm wary to install the latest gfortran version on my Mac because it may break the very dependable g77-3.4.2 compiler that I use almost every day.
