From help-request at octave dot org Mon Jan 31 12:54:30 2005 Subject: Re: Building Octave on cygwin with gcc3.4.3 From: "Paul Thomas" To: "John W. Eaton" Cc: Date: Mon, 31 Jan 2005 19:59:51 +0100 A static version of octave-2.1.64, compiled with the home built gcc-3.4.3 on Cygwin, runs as fast as versions compiled with gcc-3.2.2. It has some "quirks" but useful timing tests can be done with it. I have come to the conclusion that all the libraries used by octave will have to be rebuilt with this compiler to be completely viable. However, it looks promising enough that I will give it a go over the next few weeks. Paul T > John, > > I built gcc-3.4.3 on Cygwin, with --enable-shared.
