I don't know if you need versions of anything else. Then in octave-2.1.71, I've done a ./configure --enable-shared And then a make. All the beginning of the make went OK but then, I had that problem that it couldn't find "/home/carine/octave-2.1.71/doc/interpreter/octave.texi" and ask me to type another name. As I've said, in fact this file does exist. When I stop the make process, it writes the following texput.log file; ------------------------------------------- This is e-TeX, Version 3.141592-2.1 (MiKTeX 2.4) (preloaded format=etex 2005.5.20) 20 MAY 2005 18:04 entering extended mode **/home/carine/octave-2.1.71/doc/interpreter/octave.texi ! Hi = John,

So, I've got Cygwin with gcc 3.3.3-3. I don't know if you need versions of anything = else.

Then in octave-2.1.71, I've done a ./configure = --enable-shared

And then a make. All the beginning of the make went OK but = then, I had that problem that it couldn't = find "/home/carine/octave-2.1.71/doc/interpreter/octave.texi" and ask me to type another name. As I've said, in fact this file = does exist.

When I stop the make process, it writes the following texput.log file;

-------------------------------------------

This is e-TeX, Version 3.141592-2.1 (MiKTeX 2.4) (preloaded = format=3Detex 2005.5.20)  20 MAY 2005 18:04

entering extended mode

**/home/carine/octave-2.1.71/doc/interpreter/octave.texi

! Emergency stop.

<*> = ...e/octave-2.1.71/doc/interpreter/octave.texi

           &n= bsp;           &nb= sp;           &nbs= p;            = ;

End of file on the terminal!

No pages of output.

-----------------------------------------

And then it tells me

/usr/bin/texi2dvi: etex exited with bad status, = quitting.

/usr/bin/texi2dvi: see octave.log for = errors.

Make[3]: *** [octave.dvi] Error 1 (ignored)

Make[2]: *** [interpreter] Interrupt

Make[1]: *** [doc] Interrupt

Make: *** [all] Interrupt

Do you need any more information?

Thanks,

Carine.
