Subject: undefined symbol error

Good afternoon,
	I just installed octave 2.1.50 on a P4 laptop running FreeBSD 4.9.
(Done by first installing Atlas via ports, then readline-4.3 manually and
fianlly octave via ports.)

 However I obtain the following error within octave:
/usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: /usr/local/lib/octave-2.1.50/liboctave.so: Undefined symbol "rl_get_screen_size"

ldconfig -r shows:
    47:-lreadline.4 => /usr/lib/libreadline.so.4
   324:-lreadline.4 => /usr/local/lib/libreadline.so.4
