This is entirely a Mac OS X problem rather than a Fink or Octave problem and there is little that I can do. I have the Dec 2002 OS X Dev Tools and the Aug 2003 gcc Updater installed. These appear to be the latest version for Mac OS X 10.2.8 (Jaguar). I'm not sure if upgrading to OS X 10.3 would solve the problem? When checking the Developer Site, I found: Xcode Tools v1.0 Xcode Tools version 1.0 include gcc 3.3, Interface Builder 2.3.4, AppleScript Studio, updated documentation, performance tools. NOTE: Requires Mac OS X v 10.3 or later. But I don't know if this takes the place of the Dev Tools and if this would take care of the bug in the C or C++ libraries for OS X.
