Has anybody had any positive experience on using any of the available tricks
for filling bars and histograms generated by gnuplot through octave?

I have tried the perl script at
http://isgwww.cs.uni-magdeburg.de/~fritter/gnuplot.html
and also the awk one at
http://www.usf.uni-osnabrueck.de/~breiter/tools/gnuplot/barchart.en.html
but with no luck so far. In a simple histogram, bars get displaced and no
filling appears.
