Firstly, sorry if there is an obvious answer to this, but I haven't 
found it.

I have downloaded a number of m files and some of them have functions 
with the same name but with either different calling arguments, or 
different functionality. Is there a way of explicitly telling octave 
which one to use in a particular situation?
