Subject: screen output during looping?

Hello,
I'm running a very long loop, and I'd like to see some intermediate results 
while the loop is running, to make sure things aren't going astray. I find 
that the program works fine, but all screen output is saved up until the loop 
finishes. Is this normal, and if so, is it possible to override? I'm using 
Octave 2.1.40, with octave forge add ons.
