Subject: OpenBSD 2.8 make fails

./configure works just fine, then make bombs out with lots of "Need an 
operator" and "Missing dependency operator" nearly immediatley after the 
command is given.

Has anyone else run into problems on OpenBSD 2.8?  If so, how did you work 
around them?
