Hi,

The usual behaviour of octave is to create/modify a variable that is
beeing assigned, but this does not happen with `append': one has to
explicitly create an (empty) list for then `append' elements to it.
Couldn't this be changed? If in `b=append(b,1)' `b' does not exist or
exist but is not a list(Humm... here), an empty `b' list could be
created.
