After successfully installing
gnumake and the various gnu compilers, we have
encountered the following problem:

We seem to have overlooked (at least :-) ) one
stage of the configuration process of
octave's makefiles, because
during the compilation process,
sometimes cc is called instead of gcc. 

Any ideas what we might have overlooked?
