For example, you could use the information you have about the problems with GCC as a starting point for submitting patches that improve GCC's performance. If you can't submit patches, you could at least file bug rports about the problems. That way, you benefit all users of GCC, possibly on multiple platforms, not just those who use Intel hardware.
