Although it may be available free of charge, I'm pretty sure the Intel
compiler is not free software.

Please consider helping to improve free (i.e., libre, freely
redistributable) software rather than by promoting non-free software
(particularly on this list).  For example, you could use the
information you have about the problems with GCC as a starting point
for submitting patches that improve GCC's performance.  If you can't
submit patches, you could at least file bug rports about the problems.
That way, you benefit all users of GCC, possibly on multiple
platforms, not just those who use Intel hardware.
