Subject: windows binary does not have access to grep or awk

functions like "legend" do not appear to work with the octave binary 
windows version 2.1.50 because it does not have access to grep or awk.  
it may be dificult to implement those utilities and include them in the 
binary, but it would be very beneficial to users.  i have switched to 
the cygwin version to obtain the functionality that i require.
