From bug-request at octave dot org Fri Jan 14 11:29:22 2005 Subject: octave-2.1.64: build comments From: "Nelson H. F. Beebe" To: bug at octave dot org Cc: beebe at math dot utah dot edu Date: Fri, 14 Jan 2005 11:16:45 -0600 I made 9 build attempts for octave-2.1.64 on these platforms Apple MacOS X 10.3.2 (Darwin 7.2.0) AMD64 GNU/Linux Fedora Core release 3 Intel Itanium-2 GNU/Linux Red Hat Advanced Server release 2.1AS DEC Alpha 4100-5/466 OSF/1 4.0F Sun Ultra Enterprise 5500 Solaris 8 Intel Pentium III GNU/Linux Red Hat 8.0 using gcc, Intel icc, and native (DEC and Sun) compilers. Of them, only the AMD64 build succeeded (nice, because it is a brand-new system, and very fast). All of the build failures seem to be C++ issues, and I was surprised to find the builds with Intel icc failing, since it is the only compiler on the above platforms that claims full conformance to both 1999 ISO Standard C, and to 1998 ISO Standard C++. I now have a Solaris 10 test system with new Sun compilers that I'll try after some other long-running builds complete. If you folks are interested in looking at the build logs, let me know, and I'll make them available privately off this list. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Nelson H.
