The fact that the bug is reported against gcc pre4.0 version does not mean
it was not there in the previous versions (it was). At some moment I 
had few quite old systems which would give different results, some of 
them accidentally could be correct :)

The Ieee (complex) arithmetics was iffy with gcc as long as I remember.
