I can start octave (2.1.71) on a computer with Suse 10.0.
I do also get the result for 1+1, however
I do not get a result for:
givens (1, 1)
whereas I got a result under Suse 9.3 (version 2.1.64). I found that for 
Suse 10.0 gcc-g77xxx is missing. Might this be the problem?
