Thanks a lot, it works!!!!

Thank you for the quick reply, I replaced the lapack and blas rpms shipped 
with FC3 with the ones supplied with FC2 and the problem doesn't occur any 
more.

B.T.W.: I didn't need to (re)compile the Octave sources with the -ffloat-store 
option

I will try later on this week to test on my Intel Celly laptop as my desktop 
machine is also an Athlon XP (1800+) and post the results.
