You probably upgraded your distribution, and the new libreadline (4.2) doesn't play with Octave. The bug has been reported and fixed; report are in the Debian bug system. You should get a new Octave package from Debian, try 2.0.16.92-5 currently in unstable but slated for testing. Mail me privately if you have questions. Regards, Dirk -- According to the latest figures, 43% of all statistics are totally worthless. ------- end of forwarded message ------- -- www.octave.org | Unfortunately we were hoplessly optimistic in 1954 www.che.wisc.edu/~jwe | about the problems of debugging FORTRAN programs. | -- J.
