In any case, does the self-installing binary work for systems that do not already have Cygwin installed? If so, can you let me know, and also make a note of that on the http://sourceforge.net/projects/matlinks page that has the link to the binary? I'll also change the Octave site to say that the binary should only be used if you don't already have Cygwin installed, and that making it work for everyone is still a project in progress, and that if people want to help with that project, they should check the matlinks.sourceforge.net site.
