From bug-octave-request at bevo dot che dot wisc dot edu Thu Oct 19 08:40:10 2000 Subject: Bug? From: "Karonen, Janne" To: bug-octave at bevo dot che dot wisc dot edu Date: Thu, 19 Oct 2000 08:38:07 -0500 I have installed cygwin-b20 (usertools) in my W98 laptop. I also installed Octave (2.0.13). After I had installed Octave I couldn't start it because of missing cygwin19b.dll. I couldn't find this library file from the cygwin usertools so I got it from the FTP server (?). After I got DLL-file in place Octave started and worked well. Until now... I have had serious problems to use Octave with Gnuplot3.7. This problem occurs also with other Octave programmes, such as 'bug_report'! Some times plotting works well but after couple of plots Octave halts (and exits) with following error message: (C:\OCTAVE\BIN\OCTAVE.BIN 1000) Exception: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION error: segmentation violation -- stopping myself... attempting to save variables to 'octave-core'... save to 'octave-core' complete I tried to re-install Octave, but it did not help - the problem persisted. I have to admit that I'm not very familiar with cygwin package, but I have tried to make the installation according to the instructions given by JWE (Tue May 19 1998).
