I programmed them as functions to discuss them (if it's worth) and to test them separately. I found in file BUGS, line 137, a general statement, but in order not to spent time uncessary, I would like to ask directly once more: - Are a suggestions/contributions to Octave welcome at all ? - If so, which is the right address/way to send/discuss it, and what happens with it ? - Which is the right address for questions concerning details of Octave ? (F.i., what happened with the proposed minor change in help files (Bugreport ListsDoc, 15.03.1999/16:31:23) ?). Structures: Structures could be considered as a dynamic tree to hold data. Octave currently has only methods to extend structures, but not to reduce them. Function delcc returns a reduced structure. Each row of the second string component is interpreted as a name of a component to take out. Function estruct should work as constructor that generates an empty structure like list generates an empty list. Save: Octave currently cannot save structures and lists. The functions save1 and load1 are a first step to overcome this lack. Simulating save/load for ascii-format, it saves/loads the argument of possibly compound data (structures, lists) in a depth first way. (see section INPUT/OUTPUT in file PROJECTS * Make load and save work for structures) Procinfo: Getrusage seemed not to be well supported under Linux (for details see the kernel sources). So simulating the idea of ps (see package procps-1.X.Y) get_[acc|mem|proc|time]info reads out information of /proc/$$/ into an internal structure and puts the information about the running octave into octave structures. The most complete information is hold in the structure returned by get_procinfo, the other functions return fractional parts of it. For sake of completeness, an own getrusage-returning function was added.
