I suspect that this is a bug in gnuplot (or possibly ghostscript), not
Octave.  Can you please submit a bug report to the gnuplot people (or
the ghostscript people, if you can determine that gnuplot is
generating correct PostScript)?

If you can show that it is really a bug in Octave, then please submit
a complete bug report to bug-octave at bevo dot che dot wisc dot edu dot   You'll need to
include the exact set of commands you used to create the plot.
