You'll have to report the problem to whoever is doing that. In the mean time, I'd suggest getting and installing a statically linked binary distribution from ftp.che.wisc.edu. You can find a distribution for Linux in the directory /pub/octave/BINARIES/2.0.9. Thanks, jwe
