If you are using libg++ 2.7.1, you should probably also be using
g++ 2.7.1.

I have created a patch for 2.7.1.  You should get both of the
following files:

  ftp://ftp.che.wisc.edu/pub/octave/README-GCC-2.7.0
  ftp://ftp.che.wisc.edu/pub/octave/README-GCC-2.7.1

I wasn't planning to take time away from working toward 1.2 to make a
patch, but it turned out to be fairly quick and painless...
