From bug-octave-request Sun Jun 13 10:10:41 1993 From: romolo at prix1 dot pr dot infn dot it (Laboratorio Ottica) To: bug-octave Date: Sun, 13 Jun 93 17:09:41 +0200 Dear Octave mantainers, i have notice you have tried to make Octave as much as possible Matlab compatible, but in my octave version (0.71.1) there is no way to concatenate strings in matlab fashion. Well, i have to say that this release was compiled by me under LINUX (an unix for PC) but during compilation nothing but a mistake in builtin.cc happened. (the mistake happened in a section concerning npsol) For this reason i thing you have missed during developping the compatibility of the ';' operator with strings. Another thing missed is the capabilities of reading simple ascii files without header (i'm trying btw to make my own fix to it). Apart from the two reported thing Octave is a wonderful product, and I really hope you will continue to improve it. For what concern supporting, is there a Octave contribution list ? I will like to contribute with some useful .m files originally written by me for data processing (filters smoothers and other stuff). Best regards Romolo Manfredini P.S. Excuse me for my english. (It needs more improvements than Octave) EMAIL: romolo at prpc14 dot fis dot unipr dot it romolo at prix1 dot pr dot infn dot it romolo at ursamajor dot eng dot unipr dot it
